Basic Skills
Home Club Information About our sport Coaches Sessions Skater of the Month Basic Skills News Results Links Contacts

The Meridian beginner sessions are made up of General Skating and Basic Skills grades. We believe that the sessions should be fun but also give skaters a sense of achievement by demonstrating their on-going improvement and goal attainment. We create a sense of achievement by assisting and developing the skaters so that they progress through the Federation of Artistic Roller Skating’s Basic Skills grades programme.

A skater will develop the necessary skills to get them moving, retain their balance and also stop safely. They will progress to the stages where they will understand the fundamental mechanics of their body and how this can relate to the skate on their feet to get some outstanding results.

The Basic Skills grades are governed by the Federation of Artistic Roller Skating. The grades help new skaters learn the Basic Skills needed to progress in Artistic Skating.

On a monthly basis we conduct both assessments of the skater’s skills and as a result present them with a special certificate and sew on badge which demonstrates their skills and skating prowess to all. We are really keen to demonstrate praise to the skates and welcome all parents to the monthly grade presentations.

The Meridian Coaches are qualified to pass Basic Skill grades.
